Orange County Parent Child Center
Recently, the Orange County Parent Child Center moved into a new facility in Tunbridge, Vermont.
The Community Building Grant from Seventh Generation allowed us to purchase new soft tile flooring to replace area rugs which were in poor repair and of indeterminate composition. With this grant, we were able to get new interlocking tile flooring from SoftTiles that is non-allergenic, low VOC, EVA, BPA, and formamide free. Additionally, we were able to replace a worn vinyl “nest” used by our infants with a new Natural Turtle Hollow from Kaplan, which is PVC, phthalate, BPA, lead and metal free. This “nest” is an important piece of furniture that provides a safe space for tummy time, a cozy book corner or an imaginative play space depending on the needs of our youngest and oldest infants. Last, but not least, we were able to replace our plastic nap mats with new nap mats constructed with 100% organic cotton, which has not been treated with any chemicals or flame retardants.
The environment we are providing for the children in our infant room is safe, healthy, warm and inviting. This is the model we strive to provide for families and other centers that care for young children. We are grateful to the Seventh Generation Foundation for helping us achieve this goal!
